Living With the Dead

When it comes to the psychic abilities and other paranormal phenomena, people tend to follow in one of several categories: believer, skeptic, and undecided.

And then there are those of us who never got a choice.

I've seen spirits since I was little. The older I got, the stronger it got. It evolved. Now, instead of just seeing them, I can hear them, phantom smells (cologne, smoke, perfume, etc.), and can communicate with them. I receive information from them. I have also been known to take on aspects of them, such as accents, mannerisms, or patterns of speech. On occasions that are few and far between, I've also gotten messages and images from individuals who have not yet passed on, but are close.

Right now you're either interested in reading more, or you've rolled your eyes and closed the page. To those of you sticking around, thanks.

I've called myself a Medium, but it really isn't an accurate term. I'm still trying to find out if there's a single term that encompasses all of this.

When I was working on this, some of you wanted to know what it's like. Well, you get used to and you never get used to it. In my case anyway. I'm not one of those people who actively cleanse my home of spirits on a regular basis. Contrary to popular belief, the number of times I've come across negative spirits or energies has been few and far between. Demons don't wander in all the time. It isn't like that, not in my experience. Have negative spirits come through? Yes. After all, they were living people. That awful intrusive guy you work with that can't take a hint? Yeah, he'll likely be that way dead too. Same with your neighbor or relative who complains about EVERYTHING. If they cause problems, I make it clear that they are not welcome, and if they don't go on their own, I'll force them out.

Some of you wanted to know if there are physical sensations that happen. Aside from hearing them, seeing them, or smelling them, I will get headaches, nausea, lightheadedness, chills or sweats, and a fluttering in my stomach. Outside of physical sensations, there's the feeling of being watched.

I have a blonde woman who likes to be near when I read tarot or do any spell work. She doesn't really influence anything; she just likes to be there. We have the spirits of several cats in our home. They interact with our living cats. There's an older dark-haired gentleman who smokes cigars, has labored breathing, and likes to sit on our sofa.

There are a lot of stories I could share, and I'm happy to, if you want to hear them. I'd love to see if my husband would like to weigh in on how it's impacted him so that you get that side of it. They're an Empath, so they've come in contact with many spirits in our home.

Do you have any questions? Are there any others like me reading this?
